The Narrows of Lake Champlain
& Canal Lock #12

This cruise includes views of Fort Ticonderoga and Mt. Independence, winding through 25 miles of undisturbed farm- lands, tiny settlements and wildlife sanctuaries.

We will depart from Burdett on Wednesday, Ride the BusSeptember 15, at 8 a.m. on the same Premier bus line, and should be back in Arlington by 4 or 4:30 at the latest.

We board at the Skenesborough Museum in Whitehall at 11 a.m., experience a 15 foot rise or drop of Lock #12 of the Champlain Canal and enjoy a 3 hour trip. Everyone should bring along a box lunch.

Prior to the trip, we will tour the Skenesborough Museum at 10 a.m. for a self-guided tour. The museum is not open in the fall except for groups, so we probably will be the only patrons at the time.

The MV Carillon is an all-weather, heated, 60 foot excursion boat.

The ship is ours exclusively and has a seating capacity of 48, so our 36 passengers will have plenty of room to move around in.

There will be a narration of the birthplace of the U.S. Navy, as well as tales of the Green Mtn. boys and Philip Skene, and will include descriptions of the lock system.

The motor coach meets us at Larabee's Point in Shoreham at the end of our trip.

  • Ship fee $15.00
  • Museum fee $1.00
  • Bus driver $1.50
  • The bus rental is $585.00 and we have $365.00 towards the trip so the balance has to be divided between us at $6.00 per person.
  • Total cost per person $24.00, payable 2 weeks before the trip.

Boat rides are very popular and this promises to be a very nice trip, so please sign up early while there are still seats as we can only take 36 people.
