Events for 2004

Coffee hour every Monday and Wednesday at Burdett Commons, 9-10:30, except for the second Monday of each month when we eat at Chauncey's.
January: Movie shown was “Casablanca”, memoir group met and we all lunched at Chauncey's.
June and Ken Nicholson gave an interesting talk about their two year stay in Bulgaria as peace corps volunteers, presenting slides and souvenirs.
February: Movie was cancelled because of no turnout. Memoir group met. Lunch was at Chauncey's.
March: Movie was “Breakfast at Tiffany's”. Memoir group met. Lunched at Chauncey's.
April: A snowstorm cancelled our movie. Memoir group met and we had lunch at Chauncey's as usual.
The Council on Aging held their annual health fair in Manchester.
May: Movie shown was “Under the Tuscan Sun”. Memoir group met, and lunch at Chauncey's. We car-pooled rides to the Clark Museum in Williamstown for a tour and lunched at the Water Street Grill.
June: Movie was “Travels With My Aunt”. Memoir group met. We lunched at Chauncey's. We car-pooled to Grafton for a tour of the cheese factory and lunched at the “Raspberry and Thyme” restaurant in Chester. The weather cooperated and we had a good time. The Council on Aging gave us a $1000.00 grant for our bus trips this summer.
July: Because of poor turnouts, the movies were cancelled for the summer months. The memoir group met and lunch was at Chauncey's. We attended the preview of “Mass Appeal” at the Dorset Theater.
August: Our first bus trip was to Quechee to visit the new raptor center established by VINS, and the Simon Pearce glass-blowing workshop, also in Quechee. The Woodstock Inn gave us a very formal and delicious lunch.
The memoir group met as usual and lunch was at Chauncey's. At the Dorset theater, we saw “Relatively Speaking”.
September: Memoir group, Chauncey's for lunch, and “Swing Street” at the Dorset Theater. Our second trip was a visit to the town of Whitehall, New York, the home of the U.S. Navy. We toured the Skenesborough Museum and the grounds and then boarded a Carillon Cruise ship for a three-hour sail of the lower Lake Champlain, going through lock No.12 and debarking at Larabee's Point in Shoreham, Vt. We ate our picnic lunches during the cruise. See Photos. See Itinerary.
October: Movie shown was “Lost in Translation”. Memoir group met.
November: Lunch at Chauncey's.
Memoir group met at Burdett. Movie shown was “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington”.
December: Movie shown was “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”.

A Christmas party was held at Burdett. Everyone brought a gift to exchange and a hors d'oevres. Drinks and dessert was provided.
