Coffee hour every Monday from 9 to 10:30 A.M. There are no lunches at Chauncey's until November. We applied for a grant of $250.00 from the Council on Aging and received it with the understanding that we would try to get speakers as we used to early on. Please let me know if you hear of a speaker who would interest the group. I am contacting the Rescue Squad in the hopes that they would give us a demonstration of what we ourselves can do in an emergency, hopefully for a November meeting.

January:

Friday, Jan 7 - Movie at Burdett at 10 am is “Road to Perdition” featuring Tom Hanks, Jude Law and Paul Newman.

Monday, Jan 10 - Memoir group meets at 9 am at Burdett Commons.

Monday, Jan 10 - Lunch at Chauncey's at 11:30 am. Please call Annie Howard at 375-6494 for reservations. Donation for lunch is $3.50.

February:

Friday, Feb 4 - Movie at Burdett at 10 am. The movie is “All About Eve” starring Bette Davis and lots of other old character actors: Anne Baxter, George Sanders and Celeste Holm. The movie won four Oscars including best picture.

Wednesday, Feb 9 - Lissa Luke of the Red Cross will give a talk on disaster preparedness to all seniors at Burdett at 9:30 am, during coffee hour.

Monday, Feb 14 - Memoir group meets at 9 am

Monday, Feb14 - Lunch at Chauncey's at 11:30 am. Call Annie Howard at 375-6494 for reservations.

March:

Friday, March 4 - Movie time at Burdett at 10 am “The Bridge on the River Kwai” will be shown, starring William Holden and Alec Guiness. This movie is a classic, won seven awards and is worth seeing again.

Monday, March 14 - Memoir group at 9 am.

Monday, March 14 - Lunch at Chauncey's at 11:30 am. Call Annie Howard for reservations.

We will have some kind of trip this next quarter, when I can get more information from all of you, and we'll pool rides as always.

Sunday, May 15 Car pool to the Hubbard Hall Theater in Cambridge to the matinee at 2 P.M. to see the play Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw. Tickets for seniors are $10.00 for groups of 10 or more, instead of the usual $22.00.

Friday, June 3. Movie time at 10:A.M. Billy Crystal stars in City Slickers, a hilarious comedy and a sensitive and wry portrait of the possibilities and pressures of contemporary life.

October:

Oct 7, Friday at 10 am: Movie at Burdett, “The Road to Perdition” starring Tom Hanks, Paul Newman and Jude Law, a mesmerizing story of a father and son bound together by tragedy and betrayal, a story of a father fighting to keep his only son from traveling the road to perdition.

There is no memoir meeting this month.
