Events for 2007

Coffee hours were held every Monday at Burdett Commons and lunches once a month at Chauncey's from November through July.

Movies shown were:
  • March of the Penguins
  • Seven Years in Tibet, Kundun
  • Three Coins in the Fountain
  • Song to Remember.

The memoir group is still going strong with 8 members, 3 men and 5 women. We read some of our stories at the library.

Our annual picnic was held indoors at Burdett.

Helen Butler donated a DVD player to us so now we can extend our movie shows.

In February, Frank Redmond shared his slides, comments and artifacts about his 3 week trip to China.

In April and October we had show and tell during the coffee hours.

In June we car-pooled to the Bennington Monument for a tour, and lunched at Talley's Restaurant.

The Council on Aging sent a representative to give a talk and show slides on dental care and again on emergency preparation.

In July we took our only bus trip to St. Johnsbury to visit the Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium and lunched nearby at the Black Bear Tavern.

The same month, we also car-pooled to the Bennington Museum to see the paintings of Rockwell Kent to Norman Rockwell; the exhibit celebrating the Arlington community from 1920-1960.

In December, we moved into new quarters at the Arlington Community House and we are very pleased with the new set-up. We also took another trip to the Bennington Museum for their Festival of Trees exhibit. Everything was beautifully decorated and we had our brown bag lunches in their dining room and the museum provided us with tea and coffee.

We finished up the year with our annual Christmas party in our new rooms with Hors D'oeuvres, punch, cake and coffee, and a surprise visit from Santa Claus, bearing gifts for all.
