Sassies
(Sandgate, Arlington, Sunderland Seniors)

Hudson River CruiseThe Sassies group was first organized in 2000 with the help of Robin Jones of the Council on Aging. St. James Episcopal Church in Arlington provides us with the use of the former rectory, now called Burdett Commons, which also serves other organizations as well as student groups.

Our mission is to provide senior citizens with a place to meet and enjoy the fellowship, conversation and companionship of others.

We have been fortunate to receive grants every year from the Council on Aging for trips over the summer months. We have taken boat cruises on the Hudson River, Lake George, Lake Champlain and the lower Champlain Valley and bus trips to a winery, Fort Ticonderoga, State Museum in Albany, State Capitol in Montpelier, an alpaca farm, and several museums, among other things.

A movie is shown at Burdett on the first Friday of every month.

Very little money is required for operating expenses but contributions are needed for the coffee hour to purchase coffee, tea, milk, sugar, coffee cakes, paper towels, napkins and dishwasher detergent.
